about

"A bubbling brook of organic synths... detailed, steady, and transformative. Perfect for your nighttime reveries." - TABS OUT Cassette Podcast

Chris Otchy’s second album released under his own name, "Subterranean Landscapes" is an exploration of both underwater realms and the vast, dark material that exists beneath our conscious psyche.

The album was made soon after a snorkeling expedition in Hawai’i, where Chris had a fateful encounter with a small octopus. The kind creature attached itself to his limb for a lengthy period of time, and seemed to be transmitting some quiet, arcane knowledge.

Deeply affected by the interspecies encounter, Chris set about portraying musically the underwater world the octopus inhabited, as well as the psychic disposition she may have had in exploring it. He created imaginary maps and mood boards to encourage creation and get into the mindset of his cephalopod friend.

The album was released with Constellation Tatsu in their winter 2019 batch of cassettes.
